The white dove, the symbol of peace, closes one eye, allowing the war monster to complete its bloody work. Fear, indecision and uncertainty haunt the faces of the refugees without families, friends or money. Just two hundred meters from the warring factions, three hundred and sixty children, women and elderly - sick, beaten and weak - spent thirty days under one big tent with too little food and water, one bathroom and thousands of rats. Ironically, the Novska refugee camp was placed on the ruins of the once popular dining location, the hotel Sjever, just seventy miles from Zagreb and safety.
